Air Chathams says increasing prices at Auckland Airport will squeeze demand for regional connections across the country, hurting smaller airlines.
Air Chathams is launching scenic 45-minute flights around Auckland on a 1945 Douglas DC-3 warbird this summer.
The company said it would review the fuel surcharge when fuel prices returned to ‘normal levels’.
Air Chathams is withdrawing all of its Auckland to Norfolk Island flights until 1 September 2022.
Air Chathams will resume its regional passenger services tomorrow, Wednesday 15 December.
The pandemic has been hard on aviation but it has also brought benefits for NZ’s largest privately-owned airline.
Air Chathams restarts flights to Norfolk Island today allowing Kiwis and Australians to fly direct from New Zealand for the first time in 15 months.
