Auckland Council compliance officers trespassed fifteen people accessing closed walking tracks this Labour Weekend.
Twenty-nine tracks remain open or partially open for visitors to use in the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park after its forested areas were closed to stop the spread of kauri dieback disease.
Tour operators who take visitors through the Waitākere Ranges will still be able to gain access to it despite the coming closure of the forested areas of the park.

The New Zealand Recreation Association has expressed sadness at the Auckland Council decision to close the entire forested area of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park and major tracks in the Hunua Ranges.
